My progress

Wow, today was a busy day for me.  I purchased the 26 baskets that I will be using for the Turkey baskets during lunch.  Derrick Wright a co-worker has voluntereed to help me put the baskets together and he will be my support team until I get others that want to help.  I decided that I will donate the Turkey baskets to:

8 baskets-Soldiers in Eisenhower medical center, Fort Gordon, GA
8 baskets-Red cross in Fort Gordon
10 baskets-Two churches (to be determined)

I also got a P.O. box for donations:
P.O. Box 7404
Fort Gordon, GA
30905

This afternoon on what seemed to be the hottest day of the year, I ran 45 minutes.  My goal is to train to time, not distance.  I will increase it by 5 minutes every other day.  Today while I was running, as I began to cool down, I heard a soldier run up behind me and I since my mind was visualizing running through the streets of NYC.  I started to run again...Brought back memories when I lived in the Bronx.  It turned out to be a young sergeant in the need for some motivation... SGT Chambers was the soldiers name.  I ran with the seargeant when I heard the huffing and puffing my drill sergeant instincts kicked in and I started calling cadence.  It took me back to a time and place that I still hold dear in my heart.

Lastly, I finally finished my web page.  The url is : www.runningwithwillie.com I will be updating it often as I run and come up with all of these ideas.  However, feel free to give me advice or suggetions to improve the site or just to give me much needed encouragement.

Driving down to Ft. Lauderdale

Today my classmate Mandy and I drove down from Augusta to Ft. Lauderdale to attend our summer session in our Doctoral program with Nova Southeastern University (www.nova.edu).  The ride took us about 10 hours.  I was so excited once we got there that I ran in the heat about 30 minutes.  I know that is not much but that was a good start for me.  I also got in the pool and did my laps.
